A soothing, nutritious, and easy-to-digest dish packed with protein and fiber, perfect for both dogs and cats.
Ingredients:
-
500g boneless chicken breast (cut into small pieces)
-
1 cup basmati rice (washed)
-
1 tbsp ghee or coconut oil
-
1 tsp methi (fenugreek) seeds (soaked in water for 10-15 minutes)
-
1/4 cup carrot (finely grated)
-
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (optional)
-
4 cups water
Instructions:
-
In a large pot, add chicken pieces and water. Bring it to a boil and then simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked.
-
Add the rice to the pot and cook for another 10-12 minutes until the rice is soft.
-
While the rice is cooking, in a small pan, heat the ghee or coconut oil and sauté the methi seeds for 1–2 minutes until aromatic.
-
Stir the sautéed methi seeds and grated carrot into the pot, and cook for another 5–7 minutes.
-
Add turmeric powder if using, and stir everything well. Let it cool to room temperature.
-
Once the dish has cooled, serve it fresh as a porridge-like meal or scoop into small balls for treats.
-
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
