Homemade Peanut Butter & Carrot Dog Treats

Homemade Peanut Butter & Carrot Dog Treats

A delicious, wholesome, and easy-to-make treat for your furry friend using simple ingredients you probably already have at home!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup grated carrot (gajar)

  • ¾ cup homemade peanut butter (unsalted, sugar-free)

  • ½ cup unsweetened applesauce (or use mashed ripe banana as an alternative)

  • ½ cup pumpkin puree (boil and mash kaddu)

  • ¼ cup water

  • 2 eggs

  • 2½ cups atta (whole wheat flour)

  • 1 tsp dalchini powder (cinnamon) – optional

  • Extra atta for dusting/rolling

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Line 1–2 baking trays with butter paper or lightly grease with a small amount of oil (avoid strong-smelling oils like mustard).

  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together:

    • Grated carrot

    • Peanut butter

    • Applesauce or mashed banana

    • Pumpkin puree

    • Water

    • Eggs

  3. Mix until everything is well combined.

  4. Gradually stir in the atta and cinnamon using a spoon or your hands until a soft dough forms. Add more flour if it feels too sticky.

  5. Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about 3/8-inch thickness. Use a small cookie cutter to cut out shapes.

  6. Place the treats on the baking tray, leaving a little space in between.

  7. Bake for 6–7 minutes, then rotate the tray or switch rack levels if using two trays. Bake for another 6–7 minutes, or until the edges are golden and firm.

  8. Let the treats cool for 5 minutes on the tray, then transfer them to a plate to cool completely.

  9. Store in an airtight container in a cool place for up to 7–10 days (or refrigerate for longer shelf life).
